James I of Scotland Stuart King of Scotland [12369] 24
James was taken prisoner by the English on his voyage from Scotland to France in 1405, and sent to the Tower of London, where he remained in captivity till 1424. In that year he returned to Scotland but was murdered by his uncle Walter, Earl of Atholl, at Perth.

James married Lady Joan Beaufort Queen of Scotland [3543] [L857-9MQ] [MRIN: 5702], daughter of John of Somerset de Beaufort 1st Earl of Somerset [3302] [99R3-YGJ] and Margaret Holland Duchess of Clarence [3303] [L6Q2-QY1], on 2 Feb 1423 in Priory Church, St Mary Overy, Southwark. (Lady Joan Beaufort Queen of Scotland [3543] [L857-9MQ] died on 15 Jul 1445 in Dunbar Castle and was buried in Monastry of the Charterhouse, Perth.) |
