Gertrude succeeded her father as countess on his death in 1212, at which time she had already married Theobald, soon to be Duke of Lorraine (1213),

Gertrude married Theobald I Duke of Lorraine [8383] [MRIN: 3670], son of Frederick (Ferry) II of Bitsch de Lorraine Duke of Lorraine [8382] and Agnes of Bar [12676], in 1205. (Theobald I Duke of Lorraine [8383] was born about 1191 and died on 17 Feb 1220.)

  Marriage Notes:

according to the Vitæ Odiliæ. Their betrothal occurred in September 1205, possibly when she was an infant. On her marriage her husband took over the administration of her inheritance, but he died in early 1220 without siring any children.

Gertrude next married Theobald I of Navarre King of Navarre [11494] [MRIN: 551618880], son of Theobald III of Champaigne Palatine of Champaigne [7582] and Blanche of Navarre Queen of Navarre [7583], in May 1220. (Theobald I of Navarre King of Navarre [11494] was born on 30 May 1201 and died on 8 Jul 1253.)

  Marriage Notes:

In May 1220 she married Theobald IV of Champagne, who was only an adolescent, against the wishes of the Emperor Frederick II. In 1222 Theobald repudiated her for either consanguinity (following Alberic de Trois-Fontaines) or sterility (after Richer)

Gertrude next married Simon III Count of Saarbrücken [56025] [MRIN: 13738], son of Simon II Count of Saarbrücken [56031] and Liutgard of Leiningen [57295]. (Simon III Count of Saarbrücken [56025] was born about 1180 and died in 1243.)
