Founder of the BORSCOMB/CHUDLEIGH LINE of the Clifford Family
Knight of the Garter <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Documents/Knights%20of%20the%20Garter.htm>. Served in France. Incurred disfavour as a Lollard.
The House of Clifford is unclear on Lewis. On p.68 he is not shown as a son of Roger, whereas on p.67 and the lineage on p.xiv he is mentioned. This is discussed extensively on pp120-124, chapter 28.

Lewis married Eleanor de Mowbray Baroness De La Warr [58894] [MRIN: 551616029], daughter of John Mowbray 3rd Baron Mowbray, Baron Thirsk [58895] and Joan Plantagenet [11416], between 12 Feb 1372 and 1384 in Brough Castle, Westmorland, England. (Eleanor de Mowbray Baroness De La Warr [58894] died about 1387.)
