• Anecdote. John Mabee was a witness Steve Mabie, a noted Mabie researcher has a long-standing concern about Silas Mabee and the compilation of his children, particularly as contained in Mutrie's book. He has found Silas and family in the US Federal Census for 1790, 1800 (both in Westchester County, NY) and 1820 (in Ohio) and is convinced that Silas had several "unknown" children, most of whom settled in the states, He is not necessarily convinced that Silas had all four of the sons attributed to him. For example, he believes that Silas had a son named Stephen who ultimately settled in Allegany County, NY, and one or two daughters who married in Ohio. As it so happens, John and Edward are the two "known" sons that Steve has doubts about
