per Janice Sutherland...obituary "Huron Tribune" Dec 29, 1926 "Pioneer Killed In Auto Accident..." Charles Hogan, 88, a Huron county pioneer and Civil War veteran was almost instantly killed in an auto accident last Saturday, Christmas morning, about three miles east of Filion. Mr. Hogan with his son Francis and wife, with whom he lived at Kinde, were on their way to spend Christmas with a daughter and sister, Mrs. Roy henderson of Harbor Beach. From the icey road the car skidded into a deep ditch and overturned. it is thought that the aged pioneer, though in apparent good healt died from the shcok of the accident. It was not apparent that he was physically injured. The son Francis was considerably bruised but not seriously. Charles Hogan was born in Montreal, Canada in 1835. He served through the American Civil War as a member of the 5th Michigan Artillery. About 40 years ago he located on the farm near Kinde which has since been his home. Deceased leaves three children...
