carried the purple robe at the coronation of King Charles I in 1625, on which occasion he was made a Knight of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. Some sources says thet his wife was the natural dau. of Robert Devereax, 3° E. Essex, and not the dau. of his kinsman, the Earl of Sussex.
Alexander married Jane Radcliffe [58257] [MRIN: 551615746], daughter of Robert Radcliffe 5th Earl Sussex [58258] and Frances Meutas [58261], on 7 Jun 1623 in St James Church, Clerkenwell, England. (Jane Radcliffe [58257] was born in 1609.)
