Educated at the Marist Brothers School in Suva; Master of Arts Strategic Studies, Post grad. Dip. Defence and Strategy, Cert in Def. Mgt., Fellow APCSS, CDSS, LWSC, CM, MSD. He is a Fijian career soldier, having joined the army in 1981. He has served with the United Nations peacekeeping missions and later was appointed as Chief Staff Officer Operations (2000). He attended the Defence and Strategic Studies Course at the Australian Defence College, Canberra (2003). He was briefly the Acting Land Force Commander in January 2006.
