Rebecca (also Rebekah, also Rivkah, Hebrew : , Modern Rivqa Tiberian Ri, "to tie; to bind; captivating") in the Hebrew Bible she was the second matriarch of the four matriarchs of the Jewish people. She was the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob and Esau . Rebecca and Isaac were one of the three "pairs" buried in the Cave of Machpelah in Hebron , together with Abraham and Sarah and Jacob and Leah .
