He died circa 1164, without issue.¹ He was buried at Llanthony, Monmouthshire, Wales .¹
Mahel of Hereford held the office of King's Constable.¹ He succeeded to the title of Lord Abergavenny [Feudal] circa 1163.¹ In January 1163/64 he was present at the Council of Clarendon.¹
