initially of Harrington, etc.; settled temp. Edward I at Aldingham, Lancs, which he acquired on marrying Agnes, dau. of Robert de Cansfield by Aline (sister and heir of Sir Michael Fleming or Furness, of Michelland or Muchland in Furness, and area of Furness whose chief place was Aldingham). [Burke's Peerage]. Lost all his lands but about 380 acres of the Manor of Flemingby in litigation with the Abbott of Holm Cultram, whose lands were north of the Monor. However, by marriage to Agnes, daughter of Sir Richard Cansfield, he secured the rich manor of Aldingham on Morcambe Bay in Lancashire and moved south to that location.
Robert married Agnes Cansfield [58596] [MRIN: 551615894], daughter of Sir Richard Cansfield [58597] and Eleonor Fleming [58598]. (Agnes Cansfield [58596] was born about 1267 and died about 1293.)
