• Anecdote, 1779, Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. 10518 Although arrested as a Loyalist with his father in 1779 and jailed at Poughkeepsie for a short time, his further involvement, if any, as a Loyalist is not recorded.

Mindert made his home here, now #285 Prospect Avenue, in the original part of the house. He sold the property to Lawrence Lockwood in 1813 and removed to Upper Preakness with his family, where he purchased the farm of John E. Merselis.

Mentions sons John (eldest), Isaac, Casparus, Myndert, Abraham and Jeremias "who is not capable of supporting himself" and daughters Gerretye, Sophia, Cathrina, Elizabeth and granddaughter Margaret (daughter of Anatie, who married Johanes Vanhorn). Not mentioned: sons Peter and Martinus. NOTE: The published abstract of this Will does not include the name Casparus, although he is named in the written will.
