He was suffered from deafness. He succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Abergavenny [E., 1450] on 10 Feb 1586/7. On 7 Jul 1589 at Maidstone, Kent, England, an inquest was held. He died intestate and so his estate was administered on 15 May 1590.
