Medical Notes:
Gilbert managed to be practically independent for three years until he was defeated by the army of king Otto I of Germany in 939 at the Battle of Andernach. Gilbert was made prisoner, and succeeded in fleeing but drowned while trying to cross the Rhine.
Gilbert married Gerberge of Saxony [3607] [MRIN: 1590], daughter of Henry I the Fowler Holy Roman Emperor [5124] and Saint Matilda of Ringelheim [5125], in 930. (Gerberge of Saxony [3607] was born about 919 and died on 5 May 984.)
