  Noted events in his life were:

• received: County of Dreux, 1137. In 1137 he received the County of Dreux as an appanage from his father. He held this title until 1184 when he granted it to his son Robert II .

Robert married Agnes of Garlande [6345] [MRIN: 2243], daughter of Anselm of Garlande Count of Rochefort [6346] and Unknown, after 1139. (Agnes of Garlande [6345] died in 1143.)

Robert next married Hawise FitzWalter de Salisbury [5363] [MRIN: 2242], daughter of Walter Fitzedward de Salisbury Sheriff of Wiltshire [5358] and Maud (Sibyl) de Chaworth [5359], about 1144. (Hawise FitzWalter de Salisbury [5363] was born in 1118 and died in 1152.)

Robert next married Agnes of Baudement [6348] [MRIN: 2245], daughter of Guy of Baudement [63249] and Adelaide Dame de Braine [63248], in 1152. (Agnes of Baudement [6348] died before 1218.)
