Abraham, the First, whose name was not known at the writing of the Rothrock source, had at least four sons: Abraham, Jacob, Daniel, and Samuel. The first Whiteman families came from England to Dorchester, Massachusetts in the year of 1603. They removed to Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1641. Also noted was that the Whiteman,s came from England on the "True Love" in 1635 . Quoting from Warner-Beers History of Seneca County, Ohio, page 399, Rothrock source, page 5, that Adams Township was established on December 6, 1826 , exclusive of Indian lands. The first election was held on the latter date in the home of Samuel Whiteman. Elected was (among others): Overseer of the Poor: Thomas Whiteman. Whiteman's in office during the years 1827-1885 are: Samuel Whiteman, John Guisbert (husband of Elizabeth Whiteman), Abraham G. Whiteman, Humphrey Whiteman, and D. W. Whiteman. ![]()
